Hello from Christine: A Friend with (Food) Benefits

Oh, Hi! I’m Christine! *waves*

Camera always on hand.

I am Nita’s food photographer here on Carrots & Cake and I just want to take this time to say hello. First, you should know that Nita is my life coach, also affectionately known as my best friend. Watching Carrots & Cake blossom from a far-off concept that we chatted back and forth about during our frequent phone conversations (in between the latest celebrity scandal and what we had for dinner) to what it is today has been remarkable and inspiring!

Disclaimer: I am not a professional photographer; I am actually an RNBN (Registered Nurse, Bachelor of Nursing) by profession – but currently on the tail end of maternity leave – and I’ve always had an insatiable interest in good photography/videography.  My husband and I picked up a beautiful but humble Cannon T1i (admittedly I had to ask my husband what the name of our camera was just now…), which I simply love using to document our day to day adventures, and I’ve become mildly proficient with it (read: sometimes the pictures turn out, sometimes they don’t!).

Oh, so nice to meet you!

Offering up my amateur photographic help was the very least I could do to give my girl a hand with Carrots & Cake.  It’s quite a symbiotic relationship we have going on: she cooks, we prepare the sets together, I shoot, we gossip (always a new celebrity scandal to discuss!), and most importantly, we eat (what did you think happened to the all the fantastic food she makes?). I’ve been learning so much about food and food prep along the way that, truthfully, I’m probably getting the better end of the deal here, but don’t let know that!

I’m excited and truly honored to be a part of Carrots & Cake; I cannot wait to see where it goes from here (answer: up, up, and away!)! There are a lot of exciting things coming along and I hope you all enjoy it as much as we do.

            – With love of cameras & food,

Christine–thank you again for guest posting on the C&C blog. Who knew 10 years ago we’d be meticulously cooking, styling, shooting and editing food photos? Life is good.

Hi!! For the longest time (since carrots and cake has been up and running) I have always thought that Nita used a professional photographer for her pictures on the site. Well done Christine, your pictures showcase Nita’s recipes beautifully. One of the reasons why I try the recipes on carrots and cake is because the food always looks so good! I believe there’s some sort of saying like .. People first eat with their eyes (something like that..) at least that’s what I do! The two of you are a great team! I can’t wait to see more. Keep up the good work!!
    -April :)

Just found your site. I’m an eternal dieter and a hopeless bookworm. Eating healthy hasn’t been in the list of my priorities, but I’m glad this article popped up on my Facebook timeline. :)

Oh hai there, Christine. Love your pics! :)

Hi Joy! I hope you can find a bit of inspiration with the recipes on the site–they’ve all been tried and tested.
And yes, Christine, she’s the bomb isn’t she?

Amazing work! Definitely thought you’d been doing this for years. I’d like to join one of your food and photography sessions for sure.

Virginia–the secrets out–totally not me clicking those photos! Sure thing–the next time Chris and I plan a feast I’ll let you know! The more the merrier. Thanks for your continued support.
